I just set up the test tree (with the DC RGB strip) outside.  It's very bright!  From the front you can see some light (maybe 10%) from the rear facing strip.

Since the viewing angle for this item in my display will be only 45 degrees or less, the "3D-ness" of the tree is somewhat wasted.
Sure, everyone's always in favour of saving Hitler's brain, but put it in the body of a great white shark... oooooh, suddenly you've gone too far!

5m of strip each, and yes I know I have to cut the base down

My good wife pointed out that the spiral is not very even on this frame.  Now I can't stop seeing how bad it looks.  Arghhh!!!!  :o
