My TP3244 case solution
« on: October 23, 2010, 09:54:20 PM »
Thought some people might like to see how i'm going to enclose my TP3244's

A TP3244 all cabled up with a full compliment of 4 output cables and the incoming DMX signal on the right.
The power is not connected on this one and my personal plan is to hard wire the 5V back to a 5V power supply.
The 5pin header at the top is for a PIC Programmer.
The 4 x 2Pin headers at the bottom are the hard jumpers for setting limited output default options
The DMX terminate jumper is at the top right.

Now we get to my trusty bits of PVC, specifically a short piece of 40mm pipe and a 40mm end cap.

As you can see in the next photo I have screwed an eye-hook into the inside of the endcap and just used a zip tie to hang the pcb from the hook.

As you can see, the Tiger TP3244 slips neatly inside the PVC pipe.

The trick is to get the length just right so the connectors are out of the bottom of the pipe, allowing you to connect and disconnect as required.

Now with a simple eye-bolt screwed into the end-cap on the outside you can simply hang this from your pixel string or anything and have a nice rainproof enclosure

Cheers

Squid tubes it is...

for people with snow, a bit of 1" thick foam to protect the open end and if you expect them to get buried then a bit of expanding foam sprayed in the end.

so build your Squid Tube today.

Got my TP's finally yesterday and were very pleased to see that they fit perfectly in the small cases I got from Your Broadband store.  They are still available from them if you call, but there is now a 20 order minimum.  I think they were around $3.50 each
