I have been racking my brain for ideas on how to best make candy canes, I don’t much like the squared up coro versions, I want circular ones.
My first idea would be to use clear plastic tube probably about 50mm diameter, but I’m pretty sure that it’s going to be difficult to bend and keep a decent shape.
Question: has anyone had any success heat bending acrylic (Perspex) tube, if so would you care to share how you achieved this?
Next option would be to mould two halves out of opal (white) coloured plastic, I have access to a vacuum former so I could get these formed. One side (half) could have a recess to lock into the other and you could screw (or glue) the two halves together.
Would anybody be interested in these?
A mould for both halves would need to be produced, so I would probably only be making one size cane, any preferred height?
There will be a cost involved for plastic and thermoformer time, I can’t tell you how much these might sell for yet as the dimensions and quantity are still unknown.
So at this stage I’m only trying to gauge interest? Thought’s?
