Have my first mini-pixel tree put together temporarily today. Just have pipe cleaners holding them on. Will be building the second one soon using zip-ties. Have to adjust some spacing between pixels a little bit. I have 8 of these that will be a part of my display this year.

Great idea with the twist ties. I did some mini trees on the weekend and when I did the first one I was wondering how I could test it without wasting too many zippy ties. I didn't think of twist ties. Luckily though, I did a few calcs and the first one was "close enough" that I didn't have to do it again.

Your tree looks great, how many are planning on doing.

My apologies for not reading your first post properly. 8 will be great. I only have four, but I suppose 4 is better than none. Your frames look exactly like mine, are they 4' tall.

Very good. I've done 24 for this year with cable ties like the photo. Found I could control the spacing a lot better.

I'm not being critical of anyone's setup and I haven't even seen them lit up at night but I was wondering if anyone has done an experimentation to see if it looks better with a closer spacing at the top where the curves are smaller diameter. Just thought it might end up defining the curve better with a closer spacing on the tighter radii. I'm guessing it looks fine with equal spacing all the way but just putting it out there to see others experiences.

I suppose what I'm saying is keep the number of pixels per revolution roughly the same all the way up which equates to a bigger spacing at the bottom and small spacing at the top.

Interested to know if anyone has done a comparison.

I see about getting a video after dinner, now that it's dark.
Can't upload video for now but checking the trees the distance makes little difference as you tend to look "thru" the tree so hard to see defined lines.

I see yours are much cleaner.. Do you notice a loss in visibility of the light with the pixel sideways especially when the pixel is facing away for you? I was going to tie mine with each pixel standing vertical so its visible all the way around.

I feel sometimes we are our own worst critics. We tend to micro-manage the details of our displays but in the end it is the overall effect that people see.

I got 4 trees done from yesterday to today.. Have four more to go. Have to figure in power injection also as 200px is too many. Should I inject at the end of the 200 or in the middle between px 100 and px 101?

Mine are the same as yours. I am going to run mine on 12V or 24V with Buck Converters, (they just arrived today :D :D :D ) I will start wiring now and see the result.
You could run a heavy gauge wire for +ve and -ve but the data will still be lost at 5V.
Attached here is the wiring done by Plasmadrive using Buck Converters.

Will post my results when I got some done.
