I have to agree with @tooms about moving away from the receivers to small controllers, Baldric 8s to be precise. I feel they are giving more expandability and adaptability with the smaller controllers. They are isolated so are not attached to a large controller that might fail and take down the...
I don't understand how 2 pixels failing equates to a pile of junk? A single pixel failure a year seems darn good to me. I lost a lot more than 2 pixels this year and just carried on with what worked until I got around to fixing the failures.
I'm looking to update my show and I was wondering what is your single favorite prop and why?
Right now I still think one of my favorite props are my GE Minitrees with a star (Yeah, I know the star is extra but they go together as a unit). They just seem to be the right amount of lights and can...
I'll 100% agree on testers. Just this year I was thinking it is time to get a network tester to check my cables to make sure they are working properly without just the swap and hope game. The network tester can help with finding network data issue, and just general cable health checks. This will...
I honestly almost never use them since I have to worry about trying to balance the pixels across receivers and ports at the same time. I'd rather swap out the receiver for a baldrick and then I can have more flexibility with how and where it is used. If they both require power and some sort of...
I was lucky enough to get all the old stuff out and did not end up putting anything new up. We had over 12 inches of snow and extreme cold weather before December 1st which took a lot of wind out of my sail. Not to mention I had to complete a large personal project that took a lot of time this...
Once cur, you might just want to depend on the heat from a soldier pot or a soldiering iron to melt back the plastic a bit. Since you are in Aus, i think these might be very handy while working with the seed pixels. These look easier to use than trying to soldier little bits or wire together...
If you have a BB Black, I would recommend a powered usb hub and plug the sound blaster device into that. I understand the usb ports are under powered and can have some issues when powering the SB device. I use a splitter from audio out which goes into an outdoor radio and then the transmitter...
What version of xlights are you using? The best way to check is to use an older version to see if it works in that. Maybe go back to xlight 2025.7 and est. You should be able to download all the older versions from xlights.org.
If you run FPP, it has this type of audio feature built in. I think you can find it in the audio section for files and it might need a command to run and process everything. This reminds me I need to do it also. :)
Not everything of mine is out and working but I'm turning my lights on starting tonight and will just add more very day until it is done. It is a bit more rendering for sequences but it will get there! Plus it keeps people interested in what is happening every day.
When I started with under 2,000 pixels I always bought the pro or advanced version of a sequence with the thoughts of adding more pixels over time. This prevents the need of rebuying a sequence after your show has grown. I've grown from a basic layout over the years to more advanced and still...
There are a bunch of different videos on Youtube about mapping sequences. here is just one of them. This will help you understand more about the process.

Try repairing or updating the VC++ redistributable packages. It's possible some of those were corrupted and reinstalling xLights will not fix those. It only looks to see if it is there and if not install them.
