Selling off my entire display. Local pickup in Pingree Grove, Illinois, 60140 only. Will not break up. Over $17,000 invested. Selling $2500. See the ForSale forum for details. WAY too much to list.
I've written a HOW-TO on how I did mine (BIG thanks to justinj for the Arduino code!!!) at http://www.twinkleclaus.com/arduino-ws2811-strobe-pixels/ YMMV.
I ran the Virtual Grinch in my window this year using an el-cheapo $60 UC28+ projector. I received it the day before Christmas Eve and it was a hit for the 3 nights ran it.

I made one also from an Arduino. The board on the left is my DMX sender/receiver for bench testing DMX. The board in the center is the DMX receiver/DMX channel selector/Mode Jumper. The right is the Arduino to be swapped out with a Boarduino.
I used a DIP switch/shift register to set the...
It is great that they fixed this 'bug', but I, as have others, relied on this 'bug' to produce a multi-color twinkle that looks amazing. Can the devs please re-introduce the 'bug' as a new feature? While there were times I wanted a white twinkle, I also want a multi-color twinkle.
In years past, I've used a timer to turn my Tune-To sign on/off, but the timer quickly drifts, so the sign typically goes on well before the show starts and turns off before the show ends. Last year, I hacked in an Arduino and a couple of SSR's with some simple C# serial port control code and...
I finally finished by 20 yard stakes/outline. They consist of 20 sticks to outline the yard, each with a 32 pixel WS2801 1M strip, encased in a fluorescent light poly-carbonate tube. The strips themselves are zip-tied to fiberglass driveway markers.
It's been wonderful getting Christmas cards in my mailbox everyday from around the world! I hope mine made it across the sea! Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!
Thanks for the tip FE! I sniffed the e1.31 packets for the universe that was having problems between the da_131 and LSP outputs and found that the da_131 continuously sends out packets, thus the controllers work. LSP does not send out as many packets, thus my problems. I set keepalive params on...
All of my other e1.31 and other DMXREN8 connected devices (expect for these two 27 ch controllers - I have two other 27 ch. controllers and a bunch of 3 ch controllers on other DMXREN8 outputs w/o issue) work just fine. I'm just having problems with these 2 controllers (others of the same type...
I was plagued with grinches this year, from some dead pixels taking out an entire string to LSP not working properly with some display elements (and half of my display not up since LSP didn't play nice with D-light OpenFirmware either!). So, here is what made it up this year...
I was able to do some more troubleshooting, and think the issue is with LSP. The DIP switches are good (I even removed one and used jumpers to set the start address). DA_131 and DA_DMX both control the 27 channel boards on the proper channels through the ECG-DMXREN8 without any problems...
Since I am using channels 1-27 on one (faulty) board and 28-55 on the second (faulty) board, I may be better off just pulling off the DIP switches and plugging in jumpers to set the start addresses to see if that helps.
I have a few of the Ray's 27 channel DMX RGB controllers. One works great, but two others are causing me pains. When running in 'Fun' mode, each channel lights up. However, I cannot control each channel individually. That is, using LSP or other DMX controlling software via the J1SYS ECG-DMXREN8...
