I have created a layout diagram showing how the pieces are connected with E1.31, Hyper DMX and DMX. The attached PDF is a guidance example only and there are many other controllers and configurations that could be used. This is version 1.4 and I welcome any constructive input to help improve this layout diagram.

I hope it helps anyone who is having difficulty with all this technology.

Note Updated to V1.4

Re: Layout Diagram showing E1.31, Hyper DMX and DMX examples V1.1

Updated to version 1.1 to fix some incorrect information regarding E1.31

Eddie your a star!

I am planning to include some RGB/DMX in 2011 and was about to start something similar so that I could understand the lingo and work out what I needed.

Looks good, Eddie.

Only thing I would add is the ECG-DMXRen8 in addition to the DR4. It will do HyperDMX, regular DMX, and of course, Renard as well.

Re: Layout Diagram showing E1.31, Hyper DMX and DMX examples Version 1.2

Guys I have updated the layout diagram to include the DMX cable modification that is required to enable DMX for LOR controllers.

So if you have LOR controllers that your thinking of using in DMX then i recommend you download this version

THIS IS VERSION 1.2

VERSION 1.3 supercedes this

may I ask a few questions for the technically challenged like myself please

1. The distribution switch is this a standard ethernet 10/100/1000 type switch or is it specialist equipment.
2.If i went down the Tiger Eth328 path would that eliminate the need for a ECG DR4 (unless running other DMX devices)
3.Will all pixel strings etc run 1.31 or is there a particular chip type required for these
4. If I went down the ECG/ TP3244 can I run more than 2 TP3244s per ECG and if I went overboard can you run multiple ECGs.

I hope these questions make sense and I am sorry if they seem dumb to some of you, but I dare say I am probably not the only person wondering some of these things.

Many thanks

Paul

Distribution switch is just your standard switch.....

not sure on #2 or #3

but a TP3244 can run 170 pixels/nodes 510 channels and each pixel node being 3 channels, you can have these on as many strings as you like as long as you dont exceed the max number allowed.
