Hey guys,

So i've screwed up one of the ribbons on my CCR, the SMD's have fallen off all over.

What type of chip is used for the ribbon, and is there a place where I can buy a replacement that won't cost a fortune (not from LOR)

Cheers

LOR replacements are really expensive so I replace a couple of my strings with these from Ray:

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/5m-LED-Digital-strip-with-6803-IC-30pcs-5050-SMD-per-meter-DC12V-input-with-silicon/701799_306377966.html

I have also used these with the CCR controllers with success:

Just beware that the colour sequence on the are different to the original LOR items (at least in the batches I bought).

The LPD6803 is what you need to use, these will work with the LOR CCR controller, I re-tasked my LOR CCR controllers to use 6803 modules instead of strip. The RGB orientation may be different but most software these days will allow you to change the RGB orientation to suit.
So you have a few options

I'm getting mixed responses.. which is confusing me

Some are saying 2801, others are suggesting LPD6803.

Have they changed the IC type over the years?

Im pretty sure that their string lights use 2801 when their strip uses 6803.
I know it definitely was 6803 for the strip because ive used LOR strips before with non LOR controllers

But they may have made a change which im not aware of
How old are your LOR controllers and strip
