OK, doing a little more research, found this, a little more info regarding why 2811 need 5v if you want each led individually addressable. http://wiki.hacdc.org/index.php/WS2811_Digital_RGB_LED And one of the links in there where to what looks like exactly what I need, looks exactly the same...- Clay-Doh
