Hey Dez, I'm assuming you have seen all of Matthew's "How to" vids. He's a clever sod - http://livinglightshows.com/ & http://www.johnsonlightshow.com

Might be worth sending a message to him asking....... but looking into it - it has a huge back office component to that part of the technology - a database, coding confirming his database, some way to sequence the name into the display at the right time, racking and stacking of names and a response to the sender giving confirmation and "when" they will see it

I'm sure he would oblige with the "how to"

Dean

@BradsXmasLights has had this for a few years and I'm pretty sure that Vixen 3 has a plugin for it for which there has been a number of posts about.

I use the Vixen SMS messaging system on a separate laptop to it's own matrix. I use xLights for the rest of the display. Geoff has done a great job of this software and is continually updating it

Works well and has a couple of great features built in like black and white lists which are editable and a built in scheduler to start and stop it.
It is by far the easiest way to do it and has plenty of support available right here.
You will be lucky enough to meet the developer in person at the Brisbane Mini as he lives in Ipswich and will 100% be there to answer your every question about it.

Would be great if xlights scheduler could do something like this

Yes I had planned on using xlights but I guess I could set up vixen to run to a seperate matrix just for this

My setup is I only run the text matrix till about 9-9:30 when the foot traffic dies off. After this time it turns into a Tune To:- sign Geoff has setup all the controls within his program to handle that.
I also run the main show on it's own Subnet via FPP and just run the txt matrix on the home network as it needs good internet to run the text smoothly. Don't even consider wifi for any of it.

Thanks for the write up Steve. There are a few users out there that use my sms messaging app. Please check out the videos that are linked on the thread page that Steve gave you. It will do more then just receive text messages as you can create sequences in Vixen for the matrix you are using and add them to my app and the app will auto display these sequences if there are no sms messages coming in.

I will demo it at the mini.
