So how the round tables will work is each session has 4 round tables going at the one time.
The 4 tables will be split across the 2 rooms so we have space for everyone.

the sessions will go for 1 hour in total but we are thinking at the 30 min mark we will repeat the topics again so that way in each session you will be able to visit 2 round tables.

each session will be the hour before lunch and the hour after lunch on each day

Initial Hotel reconnaissance:
MINI2019_1.JPG

Green Circle = Mini Venue
Red Circles = 2 new Metro train stations to open 'mid 2019'. This would be very handy for those like myself travelling interstate without a car. Otherwise Kieth says it's a train ride to Seven Hills then uber the rest. Or a train to Parramatta then Bus it.
Cyan Circles = Hotel. It looks all decent 4 star hotels for business travelers, granted the surrounding commercial prescient. I personally like to have a cafe/supermarket near by for breakfast or non-hotel-extortion-options.
- Adina Apartment (east of venue); Walking distance to new train station & the markettown shops. No hotel dining/room-service.
- Quest Bella Vista (south of venue); close to another set of shops; No hotel dining/room-service; and sort of not close to much else. Maybe a short 1 star uber ride or walking distance to venue.
- Novotel Norwest (further east of venue); a "proper" Hotel with room-service & onsite restaurant options. Not too far from Train (if it opens!)

Yellow Circle = Pub / Restaurant options. There's a pub next to the venue and some other potential restaurants near the Marketown lake.

Hopefully the new Trains are running by then - it would be good to get back to the city @ Night to see Vivid again!

Ok Guys and girls

this is looking like a big turnout once again.

so we are now looking at what topics people want spoken about and also presenters for these topics. so please post here what you are after and if you would like to help with presentations.

each topic will have a time limit of 15 mins so we can get through everything and so we do not bore you with long topics.

also would be great to know who is a newbie and who has been doing this for years.

we are also looking at splitting into 2 groups at different stages to cover both levels.

look forward to hearing from you all

Can't Wait!

Just from assisting others in zoom I've noticed a lot of the basics need to be covered. There seems to be a bit of confusion on the bare bone basics "Hardware and Software" are tied in together to get a working final result

  • Networking Configuration (Do I need a different subnet, IP Addresses, DNS, Unicast / Multicast, etc )
  • What is DMX (Introduction to Channels, Universes and Communication Protocols)
  • What plug goes where? (Different Connection Types, Different Cables, etc)
  • Where to buy items? (Different Sellers, Speaking to international Sellers and What to expect)
  • Help I'm new and I don't want to watch all the resources on ACL / Xlights ( 12v / 5v, Power supplies, Strip / Nodes, WS****/etc, Sequencing software)
  • Xlights Basic's (What is a Model, Universe, Setup page, Basic troubleshooting)
  • Controllers on the Market and What to use where.
  • Falcon Pi Player (What is it, How to set it up and why to use it, Remote, Master, etc)
  • Pre-requisites (Soldering, Voltage/Current/Wattage, Tools, Crimps, etc)
  • Use of Pre-made props (Auscoyo, etc).
  • Megatrees (Types, Construction and brightness')
  • Being Creative with prop making (Add more to your roof outline display "Wire frames / etc")
  • Enclosures (The do's and don'ts)
  • Getting Audio to your Viewers (FM Transmitters, Speakers, Consulting with neighbours)
  • Let's Talk about "Dumb things" (Using Store bought lights in your display, Dumb Strip / Nodes, etc)

I think there should be a show and tell on how strings of lights are connected to get a working result. (Video of someone live on projector screen wiring up a controller allowing pauses for any questions that anyone wants to ask.)

Free Floor Have open discussions / groups where people new to the lighting world ask questions about other members setups. (Like a live zoom session!).

Maybe also an hour at lunch where someone can ask a question and a "mini-mini presentation could be addressed (no slideshow) about the questions at lunch?
