Hi JON_NZ,
Nice to have another Kiwi here!
Be warned of the spending involved (including being stung by import taxes)...... But it's all worth it!

Thanks, I have seen others posts about how addictive this can be... :D I’m going to try to keep things under control but we will see... Any suggestions on where to get lights or do you use Ray Wu like many here seem to do?

Hi JON_NZ,
Any suggestions on where to get lights or do you use Ray Wu like many here seem to do?

My first set of lights is from Ray Wu. I haven't got any complaints about his product.
Many people use Ray Wu, ETOP-LED, ScottLED and there's many others. A reason for this is because they allow for direct email for ordering. Aliexpress has terrible shipping rates.
I went on Aliexpress to Ray Wu's store, copied link to the product I wanted and sent an email. I got a response back very fast with a PayPal address and Excel spreadsheet to confirm the products & shipping cost.
I sent the payment via the PayPal address and the shipment came in a week.

Do be aware of quality between vendors, see what other people have to say about their latest shipment from a vendor.
I'll also warn you of the price for shipping, mine came via DHL which cost around $100. If your order total is over $400NZD then it's likely to be held by NZ customs and you'll have to pay tax. Mine from Ray Wu was under declared at $15USD a string (even though the strings were of various prices exceeding that).

Many people do not recommend buying from eBay sellers and some Aliexpress seller that offer pixels at a very cheap price. Around 40+ cents a bullet node seems to be what most decent sellers products sell for.
If it sounds too good to be true for the price than it probably is.
From what I have seen there seems to be a link between blue housing bullet pixels being low quality? (don't quote me on that)

All I can suggest is to shop around and ask for opinions, my experience is one of many for you to make a judgement.

Thanks for the reply and info. Much appreciated. I can’t wait to get into this. Ive been playing with the cheap Chinese stuff up to now but now its time to get serious.
