Sydney/NSW Sydney Expo 2020 (aka Sydney Mini) interest

I'm keen to try and get over again, assuming I do no doubt I can find something to talk about.

A topic for consideration (and I can do it if nobody else wants to). Choosing your FM frequency, choosing transmitters, and getting the complementary licence. Maybe we could include a room discussion on "tune to" signs etc as part of this. This was due to a visit to a members display recently

My first mini was earlier this year and I'd be happy to present on my first Christmas display. Might be interesting for others looking for a small setup to 'test the waters'. I have a Rasp Pi with rPi-28D cape. 5V string with 3 coro shapes and 12V string with floods and candles, around 300 pixels in total. Sequence by Xlights. Also/instead I can talk about volt-drop calculations, cable sizing and how I connected my cables in the yard. Here is my Xmas lights setup with calcs so you can see what I had in mind - the preso wouldn't have to go through all the details of course (I'm an electrical engineer so have to stop myself...).

Really looking forward to this event. Will make an effort to attend. Hoping to get lots of ideas.

Would be really interested in having someone talk to using google home and interfacing it with our lighting technology.

Would also like to do an updated electrical signals presentation. This time with dmx and receivers as well as ws2811. Maybe some termination demonstrations.

Having had a number of discussions with Ausgrid and still in conversations with Bunnings and LoR about safety issues, I could do a discussion on safety. I did a presentation on using a projector at the Newcastle mini a few years ago, so happy to do again. I also have a big mix of Pixels and AC in my display so could chat about putting the two together. Take your pick.

I'm interested in joining via Zoom. I don't have anything to present about since i'm the new noob.

Maybe you could bring an oscilloscope with you Keith?


Edit: Members on the chat room have said that Keith has shown an oscilloscope at a mini last year. Just wasn't filmed.

We do not film everything as we do not have the time or the people to do so. That is why it is important to attend a Mini so you do not miss out.

I'm keen to attend again. I would be interested to do a presentation, maybe on how I built my matrix and power injection? But open for other ideas.
