Hi everyone
I am having wifi connection issues with my fpp.
I have a raspberry pi running fpp connected to an f16v3. I have been able to initially connect fpp to wifi (and subsequently the f16v3).
However, what I am finding is that each new day that I try to connect to fpp it does not connect. To solve it I have to connect the pi to the network through an Ethernet connection. If I then disconnect it I am able to connect to it via wifi. This only happens each new day like it is resetting the network or something. I am able to turn the pi off and reconnect several times a day but not the first time I power it up on a new day.
Is this something anyone else has encountered before?

To add to this while I do not have a static IP on my router I have checked and the IP has not changed

Based on other posts, if your WiFi is not on or you have a weak signal when the Pi boots up, the Pi will switch to tethering mode and WiFi will not connect without a reboot. WiFi must be present when the the Pi boots up. Although I'm not sure about this next comment, if your WiFi goes down while your Pi is on, you may need to reboot as well. If you shut down your WiFi each day, that could be the issue. There is a setting in FPP that adds a boot delay if you normally power on WiFi and the Pi at the same time. You want the Pi to boot up after WiFi is present. My WiFI is always on so I have not confirmed this other than having to reboot after WiFi shuts off for some reason.

Thanks ezellner. I don’t think my wifi is switching off, I certainly don’t switch it off each night. Could not have something to do with tethering, should I switch that option off?

I had issues like this with my remotes last year. If they go into tethering mode you should see a WiFi network called 'FPP' visible near the Pi. Next time it plays up check for that.

Some other questions:
How are you connecting to the FPP, are you entering http://fpp or http://<ipaddress> in your browser?
Are both your wlan and ethernet interfaces set to a Static IP, or DHCP?
Are they both on the same network range as the rest of your house?

Hi franky
Both the wlan and eth0 are set to a static IP and I believe are connected on the same network range as the house. I enter the IP address to connect to the FPP (I believe I have to do this because they are set to static IPs?)
I’ll have a look for the FPP network next time it plays up.

I think I may have worked it out. I had put the router IP into the eth0 gateway. Having deleted it I now seem to be able to connect without issues. Fingers crossed it keeps on working. Thanks again for all the advice.

Sorry just getting back to this now.

Both the wlan and eth0 are set to a static IP and I believe are connected on the same network range as the house.

Any particular reason you have both connected to the same home network? What are you trying to achieve by doing so?

I had put the router IP into the eth0 gateway. Having deleted it I now seem to be able to connect without issues.

While this may have fixed your issue, it will come at a cost. Without the gateway the Pi won't be able to sync time (unless you set the NTP server as your router) and you won't be able to download in-line updates.

Hi Franky. Sorry missed your reply.
I’m not quite sure why both are connected to the network, I was following the tutorial from Brian Hensley and used his network example as the basis for my setup. I’m not good at all this network stuff so had to use a tutorial.
Ah so your saying I won’t be able to update the FPP over wifi, I’d have to update by connecting over Ethernet?

did you solve this? surprising this issue just started for me last night. it has been running fine for the past 18 days and now I need to do the same to get the WIFI started. I have decided to leave the pi running until I can figure it out.
