Hi,
Hoping for some help here, been stick on this for several nights. I am a NOOB so please bear with me
I have just set up my F16V3 through my network. I have a PI running FPP acting as a bridge to my F16V3. I can access the F16 OK from my home computer ( also the computer running xLights)
I wanted to test hat all is working fine, SO I have connected my first string. They are Candy canes. 6 Canes with 9 nodes each ( pixel-filed dumb light props)
When I run the test cycle onthe F16 all works well, all nodes light up without issues
I have set the model up in xLights. When I run the test mode from xLights, again all nodes work as expected.
However when I set up a sequence with some effects on the model. I find that only 5 of the canes work, the 6th cane only has the first pixel active after that they are dark. I have tried a number of different effects and still the same.
I assume this has something to do with Universe/channel setup either in x lights or on the F16.
I have taken some screenshots of my xlights setup and the F16 setup. I assume this is something fundamental, but I just can't see the problem.

thanks in advance

G'day Scott,

Enter the start channel number (the numbers in brackets at the end of the port address) in the start channel columns. The end channel values will change automatically.
I havent used the new version of xLights yet but the xLights version I have if you click on "Tools" and then "FPP Connect" it should load all of the e131 and port channel data automatically for you, no more headaches and lost hair folicles!

Hope this helps.

If you can't figure it out maybe someone could help in a zoom session.

Your ports on the controller you posted aren't set properly at all. I'm new too, and found this a bit confusing to start with. You need to configure both the FPP and the F16. It's best to check out the Visualise button right first under the controller settings when you click on your F16, making sure all your ports are correct for your props, and then upload it using the upload input and upload output buttoms (you need to do both). Then update the FPP with the ports which you can do by uploading a sequence and it bring along the models all the info with it.

That's the way I did it anyway.

Ah Yes that fixed the problem. Thank you.
Btw : I am using the mac version of xlights 2020.24 and the FPP connect didn't work. It did show the IP address of my FPPPI bridge, but not the F16. I entered that address in manually and still didn't upload to the F16. So I guess I will still need to enter this stuff manually. But at least I understand things a little better

I do have the proxy set. it is the ip address of the wifi my Pi on my home network. The ethernet on the pi is on the 192.168.1.x subnet.
I also have the global FPP Proxy set, to the same ip address

Only reason I can think of is having the proxy under a different .0 and not under .1, I presume would be same but haven't used this setup so not sure and I'm probably completely wrong.

I'm not sure either if the subnet being different would hinder connectivity. I do remember seeing Keith from xLights do a presentation about networking at one of the previous year's mini and one thing I remember from that is if you want to configure different subnets (ie. 192.168.0.119 and 192.168.1.101) then your "subnet mask" on all devices in your show network must be 255.255.0.0 and not 255.255.255.0. Myself it's all a bit confusing so I just stick with the same subnet.

I do however have the show network on a different subnet than my home network. I connect my laptop via the LAN ethernet cable and set the ethernet adaptor's ip setting for the show subnet and then have my wifi adaptor's setting to the home network for internet access. Ie "Show Network 192.168.101.xxx" and my "Home Network 192.168.1.xxx"

I just did a quick google search and found that if you connect an ethernet cable for a network connection into the Pi then this takes priority over the wifi connection and pretty much makes the wifi redundant. There are values you can change to overcome this though, https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=196470

I set the VAriant ( No Expansion boards) and the Input and Outpu buttons became available. - Thanks!! Will try an upload tonight

@BAZMick I did initially setup the Subnet masks 255.255.0.0 as this made sense to me, but it didn't work. I changed to 255.255.255.0 and all worked fine ( browser access to F16 and to PI from my computer.

Yep that's what I missed too. I was just about to lose my cool after 2 days of trying everything else and I just caught it out of the corner of my eye on one of Keiths videos

255.255.255.0 is more than anyone on a home network would ever need. There was a good bit of info on networking at the online mini, maybe it's been uploaded?
