Hello All!

My names Lachlan I’m from Mont Albert in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. For some reason I decided that during isolation it would be a great time to figure out how these awesome Christmas light displays work, what a dangerous idea...... I’m now in the midst of planning out my first display!

I’m hoping the current situation doesn’t cause too many delays to my part ordering. But we’ll see. I live in a corner that is quite visible, I want my display to be reasonable in size but not over powering. My current thinking is:

1) arches along the fence
2) candy canes down the path
3) singing tree face on the house
4) meteor lights hanging from two large trees - I haven’t seen these used much, not to sure how they’ll go.

I was surprised to see the lighting community so strong in Australia and I think that helped push me over the tipping point cause I can see there’s a lot of great advice and help when needed.

Just a question, first of many I’m sure......I’ve looked over the forums and through the manual but I’m trying to figure out if I buy a signing face off boscoyo or elsewhere, how will I know the wiring diagram? Does xLights support with this info? I’m not too sure if the model is in there but I assume that sort of stuff is readily available.

Looking forward to working through all this!!

Hi Lachlan, and welcome.
I am not far from you (East Doncaster).
Firstly Troy at Extreme Lighting Displays https://www.extremelightingdisplays.com.au/ is a local supplier of the Boscoyo range, so check out his web site for stuff you might want.
Xlights has most of boscoyo stuff available for download. These will have all of the model detail and pixel layouts and include a wiring diagram.
This video covers how to do it.

Good luck hope you have a big fat wallet.

HI Lachlan welcome to ACL from another Victorian! Lots of info in the forums and if you need to ask any quick questions, there's always someone hanging out in the chat room. Look forward to seeing what you acheive this year.

Hi Lachlan,

Welcome - am probably quite close to you .

yes I’m actually only couple of hundred metre away from you, admired your display last year and noticed you were on the map when I joined! I’m just opposite Quest on Whitehorse road.
