I am looking to replace some of my wiring looms in 2021, I currently use 4 core security cable but want to replace it with something a bit more substantial. I have controllers close to the house and run low voltage 12V to the props so I have cables up to 6m away from the controllers.

So can anyone in NZ point me to some cable options that don't cost an arm and a leg.

I've had great success with flex, like used in extension leads. My longest distance is doing a power injection 6m away from the psu @ 5v.
It also could be that my show being small compared to some on here is only running at 20% brightens.

I buy the 20m (about $19) extension leads at Bunnings, and cut them up, they're usually 1mm cable so decent enough for most uses
I did do the early am Aliexpress buy for some 3 core to check out but it looks like these are a better option so of to Bunnings we go.

I haven't been out to your place yet but hope to in the next few days.

Just watch out for cheaper cables that may be CCA (Copper Clad Aluminium), not plain copper.

CCA is nasty to use, hard to solder and suffers more voltage drop.

Did the trip to Bunnings and got a 20m cable to run to 3 x 30 pixel props I've had trouble getting going for days, Boom problem solved they work perfectly. I used the hole 20m to see how it would go and not a flicker so very happy.

I'll be buying more and replacing all the security cable I have in the display, just something else to add to the 2021 list.

Great news! I find security cable is fantastic for the smaller props (100 max pixels) unless running power injection somewhere along the line.
