For the last 3 years or so I have not been doing xmas lights.
There has been 1 major thing holding me back..... A bad neighbour!

I admit I have had a very busy work schedule which is the excuse I give. But I just haven't even been out in my backyard to work in the garden because the neighbour from hell.

However, today he is moving out! O_O🕺

I am thinking that as it is too late to do a full show, I may do a scaled down version and do a quick sync of a popular Greenday song
Can you guess what song I am thinking? And has anyone got ideas for songs of a similar ilk?

know what it is like to have a NFH..... not much fun at all.

last year they yelled out to everyone on Christmas Eve to go home as they shouldn't be out of that night, and that they were all bogans, with every second word being the F word, even though there were kids playing on my driveway

All the people visiting told "Karen" to go back inside, so she called the police in, who turned up at 9pm, who had no issues with my display running till 11:30pm.

Glad you've had success with your NFH, just wish mine would do the same. :)

I too get complaints from my neighbours, when the music isn't loud enough. I feel your pain, I am just lucky!

This year I'm gonna do a letter box drop to invite the neighbours to a pre-show screening and BBQ... and give them my details in case there's any issues. Everyone in the street loved it last year. I'm guessing this year will be a little busier as last year was our first show and more people know about it now. We'll see. Can't wait.

The BBQ idea is great, we do the same thing, and as you would expect not everybody decides to join in although everybody is invited, but those that do join in are usually ok with the lights

We always had great neighbours and we have a party hire business on the side, so we promoted it by supplying free slushies and popcorn on certain nights which were always a big hit. This neighbour however, was just intolerable and I couldn't even go outside for setup without grief, so basically became a hermit. My gardens suffered, my mental health suffered, we were actually considering moving. The neighbour on the other side of him did move!

Yeah we should invite Mr Whippy along. That would be awesome! We had terrible neighbours years and years ago and it made life a real misery. So glad we have lovely people around us here.
