Hey all,

Was wondering if anyone can show me the different effects of wall washing using floods verses strip. I watch videos on line and can't determine if they are using strip 30leds/m, 60led/m or floods

Cheers

I used strips for my color washing: http://huntersvillechristmaslights.com/

They are 60/m and I doubled them up (ran two side-by-side). I used dumb strips, and if I had to do it over, would use smart strips, as 2811 strips are fairly inexpensive.

I have a high ranch house with an overhang. I want to do this at the gutters and at the overhang. My only dilemma is how to attach strips to stucco. Thoughts?

How far away from walls of house and should they point straight down or a little towards house? Should they be inches away or a foot out?

You will have to experiment with distances and angles. I am going to use upper and lower strips to try and get the effect I am looking for. I also plan to mount mine in such a way as to block the strip from view from the front using a foil lined plastic strip as a blocker. Foil on the inside and black on the outside. The strips along the eves may or may not mount to the upper version. Have not got that far yet....

I started this "how to" page last summer, but never completed it. It does have all the images & links to the parts I used: http://www.huntersvillechristmaslights.com/color-washing-with-RGB-LED-strips.html

Attached are two views of how the strips run parallel.

Thank you for the pictures. This made my millenium. I don't have any equipment and now i won't have to buy floods AND it made me decide to use this in other areas. I saw this on Ray's site. Price seems good. I haven;t purchased anything yet as I said..........Is free shipping possible from China???

Val - I have had experience with a couple of the vendors other than Ray. In fact a total of 4 including Ray. 3 of them (not ray) offered Free Shipping. Here is what has happened...

Vendor 1 - Never got an item or an email reply. Took 60 days before I could request a refund.
Vendor 2 - Got modules(20) within 6 weeks. Package was DAMP on the inside. None of the modules work! Still awaiting refund. Paid $17 will cost $14 to ship back. Not worth the effort to pursue.
Vendor-3 - Placed order on Jan 4th (same time as a Ray order). On Feb 4, I emailed for a status update on my order. 3 days to reply and said it is on the way and gave tracking #. As of yesterday, no order and the tracking # is useless because it was never scanned. That order says I have to wait another 35 days before I can request a refund, since seller said it shipped!

Ray - Have done several orders. Last few by direct email and not via the site. You save a few $$ on shipping if you are ordering multiple qtys or items by emailing your order. Have done 3 orders with Ray and all arrived within 7-10 days of order and within 2-4 days of date shipped. I have only had one failure from Ray and it was a 5v p/s that was crashed in shipment.

Since he has proven that he is a trusted source, I have thought of approaching him with the idea of letting the "Christmas Light Club" going DIRECT to him (payment-wise) instead of using the escrow service. Ray has to pay a fee for that service and is built into the cost of each item. By saving him that "fee" he could turn it back to OUR orders as a 5-10% off! I am sure he knows darn well if he messes up one of our community members' orders with this new process... we will ALL know!

If you have chatted with Ray, you know there is a lil bit of a language barrier, so I have not talked to him about this... plus I wanted to get some other people feedback on this idea of a Ray Wu Christmas Club Discount - lol.

I would appreciate any input!

Ray will give you the best price if you pay by Paypal.

I chat to him on TradeManager, he emails me (or sends via TM) my quote. I pay into the Paypal account, voila :)
