I'm Andy and I live in Carrollton, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. I've been wanting to jump into this madness for several years now and succumbed to LOR's Spring sale where I bought a 16 channel A/C controller, the generic starter kit (sprung for the Advanced edition of the software) and 2 CCR's. I also bought a RGB DMX sampler from HolidayCoro.com. Software is downloaded and I sequenced a simple visualization to the Big Bang Therory theme song (my favorite show, btw). All the hardware should be here in the next day or two so I can set up a test bed in my home office and start getting consumed.

I've already found and read The AusChristmasLighting 101 book and have read most of it and skimmed the rest. Downloaded it to my iPad for future re-reading and reference. It pulled together all the bits and pieces that I've gathered over the last week or so. Thanks for that!!

I'm looking forward to lurking, reading, participating in this forum.

Welcome to ACL, Andy! This is definitely the place to be if you have any questions setting up your light show. I did my first light show last christmas with 9500 lights and 64 channels of LOR, but I started the weekend after Thanksgiving. Didn't sleep but 2 hours a night up to Christmas but managed to get 3 songs done. You're doing it right by starting this early. I hope you find this forum as informative and fun as I have. Great to have you!

Welcome!!
I am just outside of Denton...probably less than 30 minutes from you. There are a lot of us here in North Texas....on this Aussie site!! Funny going to the other side of the world to meet someone so close.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes!! I have already learned so much just reading items on this forum as well as the LOR and PlanetChristmas forums.

I received my sample of dumb RGBs from holidaycoro yesterday and my first 16-channel controller and 2 CCR's should be delivered by UPS this afternoon. Once I finish my income taxes this weekend, I will be able to play. :D Good incentive to get those taxes done quickly....

That is funny... reminds of one of the many departments that I've been in in my career. Had several colleagues that lived in the DFW area. Never saw each other here but always at other sites in California, Toronto or at various customers... shows how small our world has become.

I'm off of Josey and Keller Springs just south of the Bush Turnpike in Carrollton... have some relatives that live just south of Denton off of I35.
