My order dispatched from Dongguan, China Saturday 7th , Arrived today Brisbane. Awesome.

I do have a question though about 2 strips of WS2811. Should I be happy that these are not a full continuous strip and one that has been joined every 500mm on one and the other has 14 joins to make 5 meters.

Les
Can you take a photo of the strip

nearly all strip is made from smaller sections (usually 500mm long) and its definetly not uncommon for additional joins to be added where there was a dead section when testing as it would be very expensive to throw out a whole 500 mm length for one dead section.

I say that's fine. Ray is basically popular because he is cheap and caters for the DIY. If you get a dud pixel you probably wouldn't do as good of repair job as him anyway and you are bound to run into some of those along the way. If it works GREAT.

I thought as much. Remember last week I was on the chat talking about IP67 strip for $2.85USD? Well it arrived the other day. It was the same, joined every 500mm. I ran it up against another strip (non Joined) and there was a difference in the brightness of the LED. I will be interested in seeing how these stack up.
I will find out tonight.

you do have to remember that these strips are really cheap, you are going to have some fail but you get what you pay for its a compromise over quality
