Anyone else not gonna make it?

Well after a mad rush last year I convinced myself that I would be more organised this year. With less than 24 hours until December 1, I am at long odds to have my lights up and running. I sliced my hand over the weekend (not Xmas light related) and am now relying on my 8 year old to be my 2nd hand. Although it's easy to make excuses, I can only really blame my lack of organisation. Should be up and running over the weekend, but it would have been nice to be ready for Thursday. Anyone else behind at the moment?

Sure am.
I spent last weekend installing elements and then wiring up, only to blow another string of pixels by applying 12v to a 5v string.
Now I am so frustrated at myself that I keep procrastinating and only have 3/4 of the stuff ready.

i am aiming for Sunday night, as I am working Thursday to Saturday... I am really pushing the proverbial uphill at the moment... but i am still ahead of last year (ended up just running everything in test mode)

I am behind too. Knee went on strike after only a couple of steps up and down on the ladder.

I thought I would be good to go as I took Mon, Tue and Wed off work yet I'm still not up. Bigger house with more stuff this year but I should be running by Fri night.

yep, loosing hair at great knots here. Works on bench, not on house, take down to fix and works on bench. GRRRR! Put up on house and only works on test pattern this time but still not from Pi.

Every strip I own is up for sale after Christmas at this rate, everything is going to be bullets as I've never had a problem with them if they survive their first rain.

make sure you go all 5v for the bullets... i went 12v last year and have had nothing but headaches, next year all 5v pixels for sure and leave the strips for the roof outline and arches.

Time is definitely running out here! Just 1 day away from switch on and I still haven't done a full run-through with elements installed in their rightful place. The only thing I'm confident that works 100% is the roof border. I'm cutting a bit fine, huh!

Shame because the strip is so easy to build thing with.

I've had good luck with my 12V bullets so far (touching wood desperately)

Will let you know after another season of use.

Cheers,

This is why I've gone for "lazy mode" the last couple of years - just setting up exactly the same display and using the same sequences... Only effort is the actual setup and a few repairs as I go..

Basically, if I didn't do that, I wouldn't be doing a display.. So as much as I'd love to add more stuff and do new sequences, just can't find the time these days.

On the plus side, it does mean I'm pretty quick to get the whole display up and running - and in fact have had it all ready to go since the weekend. But as I'd originally said I won't be going live until this Sunday (the 4th), I've stuck to that.

I'm in the same boat, spent too long on a garden Reno, and been spending early AM and late evenings working on my lights. Skipped 2015 display, still trying to find gear from 2 years ago. Aiming for Saturday, and complete Sunday, then going to sleep a whole week!

Nothing up in yard as yet. have been testing new elements in mancave and so far ok. Haven't pulled out last year's lights to test yet either. Making up leads tonight. Hopefully most up and running by Sat night.

I don't know how you guys find the time for building your displays, then creating sequences to music. I just do a (large) static display that changes every year, and no matter how many times I try to start earlier, it's always a last minute rush
