Thanks. Was Interesting. 3 Pin DMX (i.e. not the standard ) vs 5 pin DMX Plugs was interesting. And that correct DMX cables are twisted.
Have not notice DMX hardware with 5 pin DMX connectors. 3 Pin cables are used for items like analogue Microphones, but these cables are not really suitable for DMX.

Example of a cable which does not meet the standard https://www.swamp.net.au/swamp-dmx-cable-3-pin-110ohm because its 3 pin, even if it does have shielding.

Example of a correct cable https://www.swamp.net.au/swamp-dmx-cable-5-pin-110ohm
From the above link
Standard DMX512 protocol specifies each cable should have "two twisted pair data paths", meaning 4 conductors + 1 ground, with 5-pin connectors. Though often only a single twisted pair (2 conductors) are utilised by DMX512 equipment, so often manufacturers have opted for 3pin XLR sockets to enable the use or regular mic cables. This has downfalls, as many mic cables do no have the shielding capabilities of rejecting interference, only "braided" shield microphones are really suitable for DMX512 signals.

Milton is the 5 pin DMX ranger. If you want too wind him up, take a 3 pin cable to a plug fest.. Technically there is no reason why the 3 pins are any worse than a 5 pin.. but its all about interop.
