How I Mounted Strips on Gutters

See the image.

I was putting up icicle lights and I needed to hold a set tight. I grabbed a clothes peg for this purpose and it just happened to click perfectly onto the gutter. That's when I saw the potential to mount strips.

I'm sure that not all pegs fit so perfectly on gutters so I suggest checking yours before buying hundreds. These are Willow branded pegs from a local IGA.

This is why I love this hobby,

Everyone can find a solution that fits them perfectly. It's a hobby that allows trial and error to find a solution that makes your display unique. I like the problem solving that you have used to get your strips mounted. I personally have a ton of conduit at my disposal so I normally use a lot of that and zippy ties. However I would recommend maybe finding something to tightly hold the strip to the pegs I see the wind catching the strip and ripping them up and in that photo it just looks like its resting in the top of the peg.

Take note that with strip being a flexible PCB then it is best to have it mounted directed to something to give it support because in the wind this method may have issues with holding the strip and the strip may get damaged if it is moving with the wind without support. The other issue is that the strip wont be nice and straight. But still an ingenious solution you found yourself

Ive actually gone the next level and permanently mounted my strip to the house inside diffused aluminium channel so I can use it all year around. I set it to white so it acts as a very long porch light and then on other occasions like Easter, Australia day and so on then I can easily theme the lights

I'm having issues with some of the strips which I'lll post in a different thread now. They are straight and the wind doesn't bend them around though. The strips in silicone tubing don't have the tendency to turn yellow; it is the ones with resin coating that turn yellow.

Hey mate are you still selling those? I remember you had 3m lengths awhile ago, now I am in my new house that's something I will be looking at doing next year (Early)
