Soldering Wires

At the QLD mini last weekend there was some discussion about soldering wires.

Here's a couple of dodgy videos I did a few years ago that may (or may not!) help.

Here's another video that explains it fairly well.

One thing to note is that the alligator clips on the "holding hands" jig he's using can melt into the insulation if enough heat transfers along wire. You can see a couple of marks in the insulation after he's tinned the wires. Adding some padding to the clip jaws usually solves this.
