My show elements all use typical 3 wire connection, power/ground/data.
A friend of mine recently gave me a PILE of unopened 5050 pixels but they are 4 wire 12v/r/g/b. Is there a simple way to use these as 3 wire? Not looking to add circuit boards etc, just thought there may be a quick way to use them, hate to have them sit around looking for a purpose. Thanks to all.

As David has already mentioned that these sound like dumb RGB strips. So really there is no real way to run this from a 3 wire supply unless you decide not to use one of the colours. You also will need a DC controller board as these will not work on a pixel controller

As the guys said above these designations indicate that they are dumb 12V RGB strip. If you're looking to control them from a pixel output then using my 2811DC15 or 2811DC30 boards provides an easy interface. They take 2811 pixel data in and control dumb (including RGB) lights out.
The strip lights up with the same colour along the entire length. They're commonly used around windows or doors where you don't want to be able to chase.
