Looks good Alec. Starting to wonder whether an open design like this would be better to top my mega tree, rather than my perspex lightbox style one. Would certainly be less susceptible to catching the wind!

Very nice !!! Good job. How tall is it?

I like your use of those very nice and dense (60/meter) flex strips!

Spectacular.

I've been toying around with a similar idea ... adding some RGB modules to my Holdman Star ... but leaving the main star with its 200 clear C9(s) 'as is". I'm kind of thinking of just doing additional flares in RGB and probably using a set of smart string rectangular RGB modules and a smart string controller.

Very nice work there alec, it will be a great addition to your display this year, where do you plan on putting this massive star and did you build the frame yourself?
Im actually looking at ideas for a star to go on top of my house this year and yours looks nice but i doubt i would build mine as big, too much wind up the top of my house and something that big would require a bit of bracing on my part and im too lazy to do that.

I had a look at the link you provided, they have one for $50 that is 1.75m tall, not bad value really, saves the effort of building one.

I built one that is pretty much identical using steel rod from Bunnings. Very easy except for bending a smooth circle for the centre.
