Hey All,

Now that our display is all together and the pixel data glitches have been solved I thought I'd share it with you all.

This is our first year doing a sequenced display, we originally started planning the display in Nov / Dec last year with the plan of it being a very low cost and therefore low channel count (<100) dumb RGB strip display controlled by lots of 16 channel relay modules (Like these) and an Arduino mega.

While this was working and it was coming together without any major issues and the code we wrote was working great with Vixen 2 we were never totally happy with the lack of individual light control and the feeling that we were doing our first show with a design that was already obsolete and software that was replaced.

In June we decided to make the leap and scrap the current setup and switch to pixels, we picked up a used PixLite16 (Thanks Brad :)) and started the process of learning all about pixels. Flash forward ~6 months and this is what we ended up with for our first show;

Day

Night

Props we have this year are;
- 8 x Boscoyo 48 Candy Canes
- 3 x Boscoyo Snowflakes
- 2 x Boscoyo Stars
- 5 x Boscoyo MiniTrees with stars
- 34 x Reject show solar light balls, modified with these pixels.
- Window & Garage outlines

All these props are controlled by 9 outputs of the Pixlite16 and 2x 12V 50A eBay power supplies and an old headless PC running xSchedule. Next year the plan is to add a mega tree, maybe some sort of interactive element and to include the other half of the front yard.

More pictures and a few videos can be found in this shared folder: Google Drive Directory

Thanks heaps to everyone for sharing all this information and helping new people into the addictive world of Christmas lighting :D

Very nice work - good to see the reject shop lights in action. Your day and night photos in the post dont show, but I can see them on the google drive link.

Thanks for letting me know Brad, I've changed the links to the media gallery, should hopefully be working.
