Hey everyone,
I followed the instructions over at falcon Christmas to re install fpp onto the emmc after I reset the bbb to do something else.
However upon doing this I only managed to get into fpp via http://fpp once where I was even able to upgrade it however I tried changing the ip address and now it keeps saying fpp's server dns could not be found. I have tried everything I can think of (even going into the set ip address wouldnt work) including re flashing the bbb with a debian image and then re installing fpp. I have tried connecting it to both my computer and the home router as well as plugging a fresh USB into the USB slot as suggested by smartalec before re formatting the sd card once it was working. Even tried ip scanners and tried pinging it via cmd and da-pinger suggested by a couple members.
I just cant get it working.
Can someone help me out? Maybe via zoom or something? Or coming over if your in SA if your not too far? Or I can come to you.

You can still get to it using IP address but not using fpp. If that is the case it is likely your browser caching the IP address. I believe chrome does that.

Clearing chromes cache then should do the trick?

why are you trying to access it via http://fpp when http://{ip number} will work every time
you might just have to use a ip scanner to know what its ip is.. but that aint hard

I am happy to help with getting access back to the unit, I don't know much about BBB's but I am sure they are not much different from a Raspberry Pi and they aren't much different from a computer.

Depending where in SA you live you can either drop it off or I can pick it up and have a play with it, I am kind of handy with anything computer related, been a technician for 10+ years.

Other side of the city from me, I am in Munno Para, bit of a drive just to attempt to fix the BBB.

We could do a zoom or temviewer session and I could video chat you on phone?

only so much you can do remotely, and not being familiar with the device I wouldn't know where to start if it was here I would plug it up to my network and my laptop and I would have my own tools available to probe the BBB and attempt to get it working again.

I am currently at work (Work night shift) but I can see what I can do tomorrow remotely.

I had the same thing happen twice while my 2016 display was up and running. It simply disappeared from the network and eventually came back for no apparent reason. No amount of cutting the power, scanning IP addresses or anything seemed to make any difference. I didn't have any updates installed either but maybe I should have.
