Effects Preset Management

Last weekend I finally had time to play with learning how to build effects. I have been spending most of my time watching video tutorials and reading the manual while exploring the plethora tools / options XLights offers.
this weekend I went back to explore some more effects and my preset list was empty. I did just update to 2018.4 but I am betting that had nothing to do with the missing presets.
So, do I need to export the Effects Presets to open them again? Is there an option I am overlooking? Do I need to Import them?
I am 100% confident the issue is something a newby like me just goofed up.

do you have the directories setup properly, have they changed?
Otherwise presets should still be in the show folder (somewhere - they end in ".xpreset")
so you could search your directory and see what turns up

Presets are Saved with tour layout in rgbeffects.

I did a search of "*.xpreset" and no file was found. Fortunately I only had around 15-20 saved and it was mostly an experiment for learning.
I will try again this afternoon.
So it sounds like all I have to do is save the Presets and a file will automatically be created. I assume these can be accessed when working on any sequence.
