Out of curiosity who was the supplier?
Have you chopped the pigtail up to see exactly where the short is?
The very 1st pigtail T that I got I metered and it had a short and I've never used a T as a result.

Should I admit that I have NEVER tested a single pigtail lead or T piece that I have ever soldered into place? and I have used over 50 of them and not a single issue :) maybe I just ruined my streak and should test them all in the future.

I've never tested a pigtail and never had a fail. The only thing I've ever tested is 1 T and that was a fail. I'm probably at about 300+ pairs of pigtails in use.

I have had three faulty ones out of about two hundred. Open circuits, rather than shorts.

Not sure about dodgy pigtails so far but I have had 1 or 2 bad T-piece connectors.
I do usually test pigtails for continuity and shorts before first use (more so to check my wiring!)

Yep, I learnt the hard way.
I hooked up to my RGB board, ran my sequence and let the blue smoke out of a mossfet.
    I test every pigtail now.
