My Door Prize Failed

I was lucky enough to score one of the door prizes and the Melbourne Mini

It was a 5m roll of 12v strip

Got home from work today and fired it up and it fired literally




There appears to be a short in the data line

This is my first strip, as all my other rgb has been pixels

Ah well thems the breaks

I may be wrong as it was late last night when I posted https://auschristmaslighting.com/threads/2014-melbourne-mini-donors-winners-info-and-links.5752 and some if it was done from memory and it's late again when I'm posting but on my list on that topic it says that you scored a 5V strip. That voltage discrepancy may be an issue.

You had me worried there, so have double checked and I definitely have the 12v

This looks like the 12vdc as it has the chips and 3 LEDs per section. Thats a bummer, just cut out that section and resolder and it will be good again (until the next LED burns out )
