New unmanaged switch

My Raspberry Pi is connected to my network router via Wi-Fi, and I use a 5-port unmanaged switch to connect the Pi and F48 controller. I’ve expanded the show and purchased an 8-port switch (same brand and type) to replace the 5-port one. However, after connecting the new switch the same way as the old one, the F48 won’t connect to the network through it. I thought that, being an unmanaged switch, it would be plug-and-play and interchangeable. It’s not an issue with the Ethernet cables, as they work fine with the old 5-port switch. What am I missing?

Has unplugging everything and then plugging back in potentially triggered them to get new IP addresses from the DHCP server (probably your router) assuming nothing was set to static before hand.

No everything works perfectly through the old switch. Just not behaving the same way through the new switch.

Can you please link to the 5 port and the 8 port models? That will help look into the issue. Sometimes unmanaged ports have a switch on them and one specific port is designated as an uplink type of port. Honestly, just swapping them out should not have caused an issue unless one of the ports is bad or it is not a switch that can auto negotiate network speees.

Do you mean the brand and model of the switch?

Try and put the switch between your PC and the rest of your network. Then test each port in turn.
It's possible the switch is faulty. It should be just a direct swap as you've mentioned.

Ok I will try that. The new switch seems to be working though because the light next to the cable flashes when the Pi is connected it's just not flashing when the F48 is connected to it. I have tried the cables on all of the ports of the 8 port but it doesn't make a difference. Can't remember what I did when I setup the 5 port switch originally but I thought I just plugged it in and it was ready to go
