Hi all, I'm about to order some WS2811, ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32956437656.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.ace83c00hSxB5C&mp=1 ) (im still in shock with the shipping!), I was wondering what others do, I've looked at where I'm wanting to put my tree, when I get to doing it, but it looks like it will be just over 5 mtrs from where I want to keep my controller.. I was wondering if people just cut the wire and add some new 18AWG wire and add the end on to that? or did you just get some extenders? (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32896929729.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.ace83c00hSxB5C&mp=1) sorry, I'm still learning,

Thanks all

Yep, shipping is expensive, but in these times I'm happy to pay more to get it here quick ish.

Depends on what controller your using. I have a Falcon F16v3 with 4 receivers, so they can be remote with their own power supply to cut down distance.

I make my own extension cables so pigtail, then 3 core 1mm wire from Bunnings the length I want, then another pigtail. Makes life easy, the prop only has a short cable and I can roll it up and store it easily. power injection I'm using garden two core wire.

I'm using a pixlite 16 plug and play. I dont really want it sitting in the front yard , so I'm thinking of putting it in the garage and then having something that I can use to extend it out to the front yard, wont be more that about 5m. I looked at the extentions that Ray Wu uses, and it looks like an expensive option.. so I was wondering if I just use some wire from bunnings and buy some pigtails and connect it all up, if that was an option!...
thank you so much for your reply too!

Absolutely. If you have some connectors suitable for the AdvaTek Pixlite 16 [Plug & play] and a suitable connector for the lights then you can wire the cable between.
18AWG is roughly 1mm² , so extension cords will do. Extension cords are 3 core.
Do search around for cable. Bunnings are not the only store selling cable.

Also check out Keith's presentation about wire types, this is from the ACL mini:

This video has plenty more but the main interest to you is different types of cable tested.
