A Friend AKA Santa.
He takes his sleigh to all the children's hospitables etc
spreading the cheer to all the sick kids.

I would like to add pixels onto his Sleigh, I was thinking 12v pixel strip. (wled controller)
But I thought i would ask for everyone else's views first.
As i would hate to spoil the look of the 1800's sleigh

Any Idea's, Im thinking strip along the wooden edges.

The sleigh, with all of its nice bends and twists, just begs for something more fluid. There are some WS2811 based "ropes" out there that could be bent to follow all the curves quite well. This has the advantage of NOT having wires from one pixel to another.

As far as "strips". How would you protect them?

i was just thinking of the normal silicon tube casing with pixel strip inside it.
but i defiantly like the rope based idea.
is there any decent american vendors that would stock it?

Underflow would be fairly easy...

Perhaps mount a couple of lanterns?

Could you use those seed pixels, they're fairly easy to blend into anything (if you have the right colour wiring) and they are also small/flexible enough to do tight corners

That's not a bad idea, the ones I have have clear insulation and copper wire but you could totally combine it with some tinsel to hide the wire

Last year our santa had lead strips in his reins too, maybe that's an option? tho based on his experience I don't recommend strips, seed pixels would be better

In my opinion, since it is a classic look the "Less is more" approach would be best. don't do the entire outline but pick and choose which areas you do to give more of accent pop feeling. The bottom edge is easy underneath, maybe the front edge., under a little bit of the arm rest and curve for more pop.

I too would suggest keeping it simple. Once one has a feel for the sleigh and the lights, additional lights could be added. To accent the sleigh edges and maybe the runners I would likely lean towards RGB rope as already mentioned. Try Amazon as that website has some RGB rope light listings.

Another thought or two; if that's Rudolph, a red nose perhaps? It wouldn't be RGB probably but for the sleigh bottom some of the automotive frame lighting looks rather nice; certainly stands out after dark. And, strip can be made to flow around curves 'fairly' well by giving it a twist. It's a balance though of durability and the number of 'turns per foot' or meter and the bend radius. Because the LEDs are pointing in all directions it also helps if it can be enclosed in a material that diffuses well.
