right out of the start I have problems

Hello Friends, I have a 12 volt string of 50 RGB pixels, I have a 12 v power supply I have a Nod mcu. I downloaded, the control program and tried to "flash" the nod with the same Using esphome flasher I could not locate the com port on my windows Lap top, I went to my device settings and I found no ports I have three USB ports? can someone give me better instructions, Thanks Bo

You may need to install the drivers for the USB to UART bridge.

You'll need to put the Node MCU into "flash mode" when powering it on.

That should be the drivers for it

Try these drivers, I found one of them worked on my Win7 PC

CP210x USB to UART Bridge VCP Drivers - Silicon Labs

The CP210x USB to UART Bridge Virtual COM Port (VCP) drivers are required for device operation as a Virtual COM Port to facilitate host communication with CP210x products. These devices can also interface to a host using the direct access driver.

Check that you are not using a charge only USB cable. Try another cable.

That catches out dozens of people... they use a charger cable, thinking it will do the job, but doesn't have all the pins connected.
