Hi, completely new to this. I need to solder a female xlr 3 pin socket onto a cat5 cable to go into my stage lights. In the diagram here: http://auschristmaslighting.com/wiki/Connector_Pinouts, it shows the 3 pin female socket with pin 1 being on the left. On the socket I have, it shows pin 1 being on the right when looking at it from the front. Are the pin numbers on the diagram in the above link, showing the cable end or the plug end?

If I solder it wrong, will it wreck my lights? (A little worried)

Thanks.

Take pin 1 as it is indicated on your xlr plug.
The diagram in the wiki shows how we look at it when we're working on it.
You won't do any damage to your stage lights, they just wont work if the data is swapped around.
