I learned the hard way this year the value of lights that are IP68. I bought IP66 for a mega tree and boy was I disappointed by the end.
As for the lighting protocol, I started with 2801 but am going to try 2811 this year.
But for me after going through the expensive school of hard knocks, IP68 is the number that matters most to me. Protocol, voltage, and form factor can all be easily addressed compared to water ingress in my opinion.
OK so after much talking and bantering in chat i have learned a lot today as to why some people say 2801 pixels strings are more stable than 2811 ,due to data speed being adjustable on the 2801
Now my next question is if you dont max out your controller with max channels ie. a p12s or any other controller do you normally have a problem with data speeds if you dont use EVERY channel available in each controller as i am looking at using approx 5120 channels out of the possible 12 universes of the p12s
so what i am asking is the data speed problem due to the maximum use of channels in the controller
I run 168 pixels off each twelve banks on my p12s Totaling 2016 pixels. So 6048 channels without an issue. Oh and that's with ws2811 pixels as well. Then on my p2s I ran as little as 100 pixels. 300 channels without an issue either.
