Tutorial: xLights 4.0 Tutorial
When: FRIDAY, March 20 7pm MST, 9pm EST


NOTE: Friday, Not Thursday!


We will go over the state of xLights 4.0 and the coming release date.
Some people will be able to start using XL 4.0 this weekend, others may want to wait 1-2 more weeks for the last of the bugs to be resolved.


We will go over the current bug list and discuss workarounds for those bugs if you want to get started this weekend.


This tutorial will go through the end to end workflow of creating a new sequence and creating effects.


We will go over these steps to improve xlights 4
1) How to setup the launch icon so it launches xlights in non-aero mode (Windows 7,8)
2) How to resave audio files in 192k constant sample using audacity
3) How to import LOR sequences using layers (DO Not use the CONVERT tab)

i made a video to show how to create a new sequence. Two ways to add models to a new sequence
1) i mentioned that you need at least one timing track to right click on so you can add models.
2) Click "View, Windows, Sequence Elements"


Video shows first method. Instead of adding a timing track called "empty" you can also import at least one audacity label file while in "Import Timings". You really want at least one timing track . remember you cant drop effects unless a timing track is selected and there are timing marks.

Am setting up preview screen (using group made of old xl3 models) and bottom 20% of preview is blank, have to enlarge elements to locate and then move to upper part of screen to view and place??

Thanks. Watched the video and installed 4.0.4. I'm really impressed how easy it's to add timing marks and drag\drop the effects onto the grid. Started my first song.

Boof63 what size image are you using? I think 1280x760 works best.
