Ok so after kicking around and getting the first string to work - I can set from node 1-99 - and get pixels 1-297 working on the fpp(HE123mk2)
I can make that work and Make every pixel from 1 to 99 (1-297) turn on individually every colour I want ,
So added second string to port 2

first it was following port 1 exactly
So into FPP and change port two to be 298-594 with 99 pixels
So my understanding is that now if I tell xlights to use 298-594 only string 2 should work 1 it doesn’t - xlights still tells both what to do

what have I messed up now ?

Don't touch the HE123 in regards to channels and strings. That's the old manual way and it just gets overly complex.

Do all your configuration in xLights, create your models, user Visualiser to assign them to the appropriate ports and push the configuration.

In xlights, on the controller tab, select your controller (HE123mk2). In the right window down near the bottom and two along from "Visualiser" is "Upload Output" click on that to send your config to the controller (HE123mk2).
