Hi guys

first post on the site, nice to meet you all.

Hope you can help with this issue I have. Please dumb your answers down as I am very new to all this xmas light stuff.

I wanted to put lights on our roof ridges this year so I have bought 4 x sets of these:

When I bought them I asked what a suitable controller would be and I was pointed to this one:

The controller is the issue I am having, I literally have no idea how to use it. It is wired up but every setting in this controller is for a rectangle shaped LED display, I cant see anything there which is for strings. I found some wording in the manual which says to download a DXF layout for non-ractangle displays - I have no idea what that is and if that is the issue I currently have ?

I was kind of just expecting to wire everything up then just use the controller to change the colour of the lights etc, this appears to be way over my head.

So my question is, is the controller I have far to advanced, not the right one etc, and if so is there one you could recommend for this set up that a simpleton like me could use ?

I have 4 sets of 50 node string lights (200 total). I am not sure if I will need all 200 to be connected, im thinking I will only need to connect 3 (150 total)

Hope you are all having a great weekend and thanks in advance to anyone who replies

cheers,
Jamie

Did you load up the app? You should be able to make some effects that look interesting even if they are oriented to a matrix.

Try entering a length of 200 and width of 1
200 because you have 200 pixels

i get an error message when doing that 'canvas is to small'

the strings come in lots of 50 nodes, when I try 1x50, 1x100, 1x150, 1x200 all the same error message

if I do 10 x 5 however that will work (for 1 string of 50 nodes) to create a canvas, but the lights still do not work

that left photo is triggering me!

any chance that copper strand got voltage down it? you may have fried the first pixel chip

would that mean all the lights wont work? at the moment when I plug it in sometimes a couple or up to 10 lights come on (however I have no control over them)
