5cm Seed Pixels Initial Prop Lessons Learned

Thanks. I thought about that too. Enter the number of pixels I want on the string logged in to the Falcon, see where it stop, and put a piece of tape there to show where I need to cut. That will make it easier. Work smarter, not harder.\ I ordered a set of aligator clips. I have extra port...

5cm Seed Pixels Initial Prop Lessons Learned

I am just starting to design for this year. I will be using mostly seed pixels. They are lighter, easier to store, and are definitely bright enough. So, I started to piece together my first mini tree. 20 pixels per strand, 24 strands, and a 50 pixel star. I ran into several issues to start and...

    Excited about Seed Pixels

I actually viewed your webpage or at least I think it is yours on using seed pixels. It was part of the reason I chose to look back into it. Just the ease of storing is the biggest benefit.

    Excited about Seed Pixels

One other thing to mention. My neighbor has one of those store bought mega trees (maybe 8') with just its own programmed sequences. It is made with seed pixels and is extremely bright. I don't think brightness of seed pixels compared to bullet is going to be an issue.

    Excited about Seed Pixels

I found it easier just to test in XLights. SInce I am only testing the actual strands, nothing too special needed. It was more to be sure the purchased pixels worked. Next weekend I will start to tackle cutting WS2815 led strip, soldering, sealing, and waterproofing the ends. Once that bit is...

    Excited about Seed Pixels

Purely guessing and nothing to compare to, but they are bright enough for my needs. In all honesty, I was planning on doing Projection Mapping last year. Wasted a lot of money on a pro projector that cannot work on my brick house. Had a very depressing decorated house last year and made the...

    Excited about Seed Pixels

I received my partial order of seed pixels yesterday from Ray Wu. They were a custom 240 string at 5cm with XConnect. I ordered a total of 12. Its almost 3000 pixels and they would store in a shoebox. That is what got me into looking at restarting pixels on my house. These were bought to make 5...

    F16v3 Node Count, Distance questions

Thank you for the recommendation. I was going of the spec sheet to keep the pixels at 680 or less for the 40fps. I was simply running the pixel counts on a spreadsheet, drawing lines at obvious breaks. Using more ports is not an issue. I do plan at some point adding controllers, but just not...

    F16v3 Node Count, Distance questions

I have a Falcon 16V3 that I will continue to use this year (assuming it works for my distances). I started to map out the props, identify where PI is needed, and some other planning. Thus, the reason for my question(s). In General, the first pixel off a channel will most likely be less than 30...

    Wiring backup data pin question

Thank you. Just trying to figure things out in my head waiting for parts to get here. The strips are for arches at ground level. If I only use the 3-wire approach on the WS2815 strip, it is V+, Data In, V- (Just ignore the Data Backup connection). Just daisy chain the arches together this way...

    Wiring backup data pin question

I may be over thinking this and partly because I just ordered a bunch of stuff. One thing I ordered was WS2815 led strips. These have the 4 input/output. I was simply trying to figure out how to take a 3-core XConnect pigtail to make it work. The reality is I should get 4-core XConnect pigtails...

    Wiring backup data pin question

This may be a completely stupid question, but it will be something I am running into when my parts get here in the next couple days/weeks. I have sets of led strip lights that have the 2-data pins (V+. D1 D2, V-). My question is how to I manage the 2-Data pins when my controller has 3 outputs? I...

    Starting from scratch: Controller Plans/Recommendations

@merryoncherry So, this is more from lack of knowledge with Xlights and my simple initial lighting experience. In my small example of initial plans without maximizing pixels and channels. I could use 1 controller each to run each of the 5 sets props. Then in Xlights I can setup all 5 controllers...

    Starting from scratch: Controller Plans/Recommendations

I just took my lights down for the year and as expected they did not make (uv and dry rot). It was not a big show, but does require a complete restart. I plan to make the show as modular as possible and easy for storage. Here are my ideas and could use guidance on controller direction (12V). I...

Hello everyone once again! Seed pixels? pros an cons an will they work for us?

Not much help I can offer. I too am looking at restarting and using seed pixels. My issue before was the bulk of bullet pixels, storing, the pain of pushing them into coro strips only to have them break or pop out. Seed pixels are lighter, cheaper, and easier to store. I have been researching...
