Are these able to be made controllable??

A while back ("while" being a couple of years) i had shared some instructions to use a DC SSR and convert it into a pixel driver using a WS2811 board (eg one from a pixel or you can buy then on line). The cost is only a few dollars in total and it allows you to drive almost anything. I think...

    Another Arduino pixel controller

I got it to work on the ENC module. I vaguely remember having to use an old library (trial and error several different libraries?) to make it work. I can try and find the libraries, but if elnino can recompile with newer libraries that would be easier.

    Smart Power Plugs

Please be aware that these smart plugs are notoriously insecure! That is, they can be hacked - in some cases giving access to your home network. The risk is probably low since they need WiFi access to the plug directly so the attacker needs to be within a few hundred meters. However for a...

How much does it cost to run 25,000 lights

By my estimates, if you had 25,000 pixels then the cost would be as follows: Each pixel draws 60mA when fully on (3 colours = white ie 20mAx3) 25,000 pixels will draw 1500 amps if all are fully on and white. If they are 5V then this equates to 7.5kW. With the current electricity tariffs of...

64 channel Arduino based Channel E1.31 PWM controller (for dumb pixels)

I have a copy of the code and I am assuming that since ElNino put it in the public domain initially that he would be OK with me sharing it. I never built this, nor can i guarantee the code is the latest, works, etc etc, But it may save you some typing! Good luck.

Blowing fuses on distro board with mega tree

If you continue to have fuse issues you could try this version. I used to use these "slow blow" fuses in my old car. You can find one to fit a 6x30 fuse holder perfectly. You should be able to find them to suit a 5x20 holder as well. Not sure what to do if you use blade style fuses!

    Security cameras

No matter which system you buy, if you have it connected to your internet, and you do nothing else, then CHANGE THE DEFAULT PASSWORD. Otherwise two things can happen. 1. Your camera can be used to spy on you across the network (aka webcam!). 2. Weaknesses in the camera system (and there...

Welcome to the new AusChristmasLighting forum discussion

Thanks Ryan, this is an awesome update and site looks great. Meanwhile I've been trying to work out how to sort messages in the forums from newest to oldest. I'm sure it's simple, I just cant find a setting. :) Could you add this to the FAQ/help section.
