In the end I did my best to "blend" the permanent fixtures into the roof, so they won't stand out that much during the year, and to be honest they don't really. Sure I notice them, because I know they're there, but I haven't had anyone comment on them when there haven't been lights up.
I...
Not a stupid question at all! I faced the very same issue over the past few years, until last year I finally went the permanent route. Before that, I was using bulldog clips to clip my lights to the edge of the ride capping. This did mean that the lights weren't in the centre point of the roof...
Ahk fair enough. Mine definitely has a section that needs to be punched out, I'm just not sure if that literally means punch out with a screwdriver/hammer, or if I should be a little more delicate and cut it out
Thanks :)
So whilst the gear is all off, you guys don't mind if it gets a little warm?
Oh I have that exact same enclosure! (I feel like you might have mentioned that in my thread about purchasing the item)
Interesting the way you've mounted your power supplies.. I've done it straight to the back of the...
Are you going to go with a passive fan (like the whirly birds you see on top of houses or trailers, just smaller), or an active one that is plugged into power all the time?
Oh that's good to know! I guess these controller boards do (seemingly) go through reflow soldering, which would be much hotter temps, albeit for shorter times.. The PSU's are behind the thick plastic inner wall thing too, which actually seems to stop a lot of heat from passing through, so I've...
I just realized today that while having a new electrical meter box on my wall to contain all my controllers etc is a great thing, it's actually just a metal box, and it's not in a place that is shaded most of the time! I probably could have chosen my location better but now that it's on the...
Classy.
Thanks to the people who took this as an opinion, and countered with some actual discussion, rather than just choosing to insult.
It is a Superman light! Looks good doesn't it. Took a while to make too, had to cut out the plywood, then drill many holes, and feed lights into each hole...
Lets start off controversial: I don't believe LED panels have any place in a Christmas light show.
I know this will put some people offside..
Being able to display a movie on a house as part of the Christmas light display is not what the hobby is about, in my opinion (this includes singing...
Hey @TAC,
Just jumped up onto the roof yesterday to put up the lights, so thought I would take a photo of the mounts a year later, see attached.
They're certainly still holding firm, the only issue is the paint has faded slightly which is odd, as I used the exact Dulux weathershield spray...
Thanks for the replies guys! One more question, if I may.. Looking at the box of the box, there are circles which appear to be "punch out" points.. Ad these holes are pretty large relative to a bolt, I'm wondering if these are the holes I should be using to mount, or are these for passing...
