Also, you'll find that many radios these days will only tune to 'real' frequencies but your tx can do any frequency. Make sure you are using a valid frequency.

Iv'e had some weird issues this year with the sound not detecting properly but on the BBB.
I had to delete the file /root/.asoundrc before the sound would work.
There is also a setting somewhere in a file in /boot to specifically disable the Pi onboard audio from memory.
