Also, you should add your house to the "Display Locations" map

    Hey from Newcastle

I drove past your house today. Looks great! This is my 2nd year doing computer controlled lights and I've got a pretty tight budget and not alot of time due to Uni, so most of my lights are still shop bought ones (not many pixel lights yet), however they are now all computer controlled with...

Making my own boards to control 'dumb strings'

Ive used an Arduino Nano and SoftPWM library to run 12 channels with PWM pretty flawlessly with ethernet, and its really cheap. Probably wouldnt do many more than 12 channels as i was having some issues with allowing enough of a buffer for the ethernet while having the lights pulse fast enough...

Urgent - I've done it again

Try finding a server PSU, there are some that are 1000w with just a 12V rail. Alot of modern server PSUs dont have 3.3v and 5v rails anymore. Ive got a couple that are pretty old now, but 60A 12V. Also, server PSUs are pretty darn reliable

Ypu could look for an old computer psu, might be easier to find in an urgent situation

    Bunnings Arlec rope light cutting

Cut the very end (last 2 lights or so), turn it on, and youll see where the series stops and cut it between the last working led and first dead one. That should work.

    2 wire strings?

Ive been working on a design that uses E1.31 (ethernet), only 4 channels, but I seem to have it working pretty stable now. If they're successful, I might share my code and a schematic for it. I do electronics as a hobby, so the design may be a bit under-engineered. Also, they're cheap to make...

    Bunnings Arlec rope light cutting

I have some of this i was looking at cutting as well... Havent yet, but it looks like there's 2 silver wires running through the whole thing... So find where the series connects to that. I attached a picture of what it looks like, and cut it in the middle of the 4 joins. Hope this helps

Lytworx 2 wire LED strings Driver solution

What micro controller are you using? im just using an arduino nano

Lytworx 2 wire LED strings Driver solution

Ive made something similar last year with just an arduino and some motor controllers (h bridges) like what you have. This year im taking it a step further and adding ethernet and E1.31 support to it so i can hopefully have all computer controlled christmas lights this year. I have also run into...
