Outdoor access point. POE cameras.
Outside power on dedicated circuits you can go crazy on. Eaves is a key one. But Think about where in your yard (front and back) you might want 240V power. Moving Heads? Bubble/Snow machines on the front fence? where are your controllers? etc.
I went the UniFi route and it’s working fine. It’s worth noting that the controller is probably needed once (to set it up) and then never again. So if you’re comfortable spinning up a VM/pi/HA/etc for that — then you can get away with it.
But I’m not going to tell you it’s the only good choice.
But it did “fix” that when edited in the Baldrick Ui. (Assuming I read the message correctly)
I wonder if just needed to upload the controller settings for the xLights testing.
This feels like you might have connected to backup data instead of primary and have an off-by-one error.
Can you light up pixel 1 in RED, pixel 2 in Green, pixel 3 in Blue and then see how the first 3 pixels light up? I'm wondering if the red one will be missing - and thus when you get to the...
(If someone with more graphic design skills than me wants to a) take a crack and a great logo and b) publicly grant the permission around using it..... that sounds like a pretty good option to me)
From the controller side -- Baldric, FPP and WLED all have local effects/controls for driving pixels during the other 11 months of the year. And schedules for turning it on/off. And then will connect into a show network to take DDP/e1.31.
For extra credit -- you could look at hooking up a...
Per the edit to the original post and my quick googling — it’s a 3 wire protocol with no clock (I fully admit I could be wrong here — never heard of it before today.)
Yeah - I was surprised when I didn't find support in WLED for it. It seems to pickup the new protocol variants pretty quickly (somewhat expected as the main open source pixel controller) - but still has a bunch of gaps in old ones.
@domhodgson - since you were asking about pixel variants that...
Thanks to everyone who came along - especially those travelling a long way (@Johnno, @Spud Fratantaro, @Jasonhawkins).
Was great to see you all (and meet some of you for the first time) and looking forward to seeing a bunch of new and upgraded displays this December.
so you can run them:
Only in a sequence
standalone running their own thing driven by buttons/etc
In a sequence, but with buttons that take priority
To my mind, the second is the easiest. But I’d like to try and move mine to the third one this year.
So you probably want a dedicated FPP...
