    Full show (2023)

First show, many of them taken from the Google Drive and mapped. Thanks for everyone's support!

    G'day from Tassie

Oh thank you! That's a good clue. I looked at the scan lines in the library, I'll have a fiddle soon.

    G'day from Tassie

The last 48 hours before my first show, I slept a total of 4 hours, and was still sequencing 20 minutes before show time. I lent heavily on the Google Drive - thank you to everyone who has put up free sequences there. Given the trial by fire to sequencing approach I took, I couldn't have done it...

A few other points of miscellany: 1. 3D printing caps was a great idea, but we never quite got the sizing right. We were able to force them on though, but I want to tweak these and put out a file later in the year. 2. I bought 4x P5 panels to do a "tune-in" sign, but never quite got it...

Not too much else interesting to show. I ended up laying out 1:1 across my driveway/lawn my roof line. Getting this right was by far the most time consuming part. Oh, I also had to landscape my front yard so it wasn't a big hole, so that sunk a few days too. Getting the first piece of...

Next up soldering - I can see why people end up ordering custom lengths. I'm happy to report my soldered lengths and custom data and/or power extensions (and there were many of both) all held up extremely well in all sorts of weather. I ended up silicolning and heatshrinking invidividual wires...

First up my arches. I actually hate them. The HDPE is great, but the feet I tweaked for my needs are awful - I suspect because I'm bad at 3D printing. I had constant issues with snapping, sealing, and (I also hate LED strips) with poor soldering/lost pad connections. In hindsign, I also...

    G'day from Tassie

Hi all, Hope you all had a great season and a good new years! Apologies for not posting for a while - things got a bit hectic near the end there. I think I ended up doing 8 all nighters in the month before Christmas, either doing Christmas light related things or catching up on other things...

Urgent - older sequences not working

I've worked out a hacky fix. If I open each sequence, add a random effect, render and save, remove the effect then render, save and upload, it seems to work. I'm guessing adding an effect + render forces _something_ in xLights to overwrite _something else_ in the fseq file. If anyone has a way...

Urgent - older sequences not working

Hey all, Has anyone come across an issue where after adding a new controller to xLights, FPP is mapping all the sequences created prior to that controller being added? I added a new controller (Prancer) in this afternoon before my show tonight so I could move my arches onto it (as power...

    Using Copyrighted Music

I left this pretty late and sent this one at 5:30am this morning. Felicity's already gotten back to me with a license - what a champion! Here's what I sent, if anyone wants a reference point of what to ask/specify.

Thank you! We'll see, but I think the actual putting up the props and lights is the easy part for me, it's understanding the underlying show and power that's tricky. My ambition is a lot higher than what I'm going to get done next year, but I think once I've got the basics covered I'm going to...

Ha, it's actually been pretty satisfying to just insert into an email or text lines like 'yep, I'll head over after I pick up the fire truck' or similar things. Initially I'm planning to get a 'special interest' license (similar to heritage on the mainland I believe). For vehicles over 30...

So here's my master 'todo' list. All is probably doable, but I'm aiming for a December 1st show (why couldn't the first Friday in the month be the 6th?), so I might be cutting it tight. We'll see how we go! If anyone has any criticism, concerns or general thoughts, I'm very open to them. I'm...

    G'day from Tassie

Today I've been out getting ready for the megatree. I've marked a spot based on where we tested and dug out a hole about 30cm down. I mixed some concrete, cut down some 50mm PVC so it's tighter on the pole, heated it with the heat cut and wrapped it in cable ties. I'm not sure if this is the...
