Hi all,

For context I’ve been experimenting with an LED Curtin (1600 rgb pixels, WS8211) connected to an ESP32 running WLED.

For the most part , this runs fine (aside from needing a 3.3V to 5V logic converter to make it control correctly!).

I noticed a setting in Xlights recently that indicates that I can add a WLED controller.

What someone tell me the best settings to use (such as number of universes and channels) as it would be great to take this to the next level with my setup.

Let xLights manage your universes/channels. You shouldn’t need to do anything there.

Are you running data from 1 port or more? Refresh rate will suffer with 1600 pixels on 1 port. Something like 4x400 would be ideal)

Use DDP if you can instead of e1.31

Hi there, planning on using 1 port.

Happy to let Xlights sort out the mapping but I am curious to know how far I can max this out to.

Not hugely concerned about the refresh rate at this point in time.

Remember - it’s not a WLED limitation — it’s the part of the ws2811* protocol. You ideally don’t want to be over ~700-800 per port.
