Frustrated newbie

I'm new to the forum and can't figure out how to PM someone to start a conversation

. I go to the envelope on the top right corner and I get nothing other than show all. Could someone walk me through how to PM someone so I am able to talk directly to them.

It might be because your new so the system might not allow it. If that is the case, then post a response and tag the person you want to talk to and ask them to send you a PM.

In addition, I think some features are disabled until you post in the forums... which you've now done.

You might find it better to post on the forum your question, a few of the members know what they are doing

This is exactly the reason. It's to stop new accounts from privately spamming members. At least if a single forum post is made it's a little more obvious whether the new account is likely a spammer or not.
